Replacing Cab Mounts
When i purchase this 1969 C10, Long Bed, the Previous Owner had begun work on it, rockers, paint, a lot of bondo and the front cab bushings.
My question is if i wanted to replace the cab mounting brackets and bushings, the brackets are eat up with rust and PO put pretty, clean, new bushing on them, go figure, can you accomplish this without really removing the cab. Can you just elevate the cab with a floor jack and wood enough to get it done, or will the cowl hit the front fenders or something else? if i can get away with just a floor jack and wood, it's a saturday project. If not it will take more time to remove fenders, hood, etc. |

Re: Replacing Cab Mounts
If your talking replacing rusted sheetmetal mounts n supports very doubtful your talking a single saturday or even with the cab sitting on the frame. Just changing the hardware only involves stripping out the cab floor and seat to get access to bolt heads and you could spend an afternoon just doing that on the frame alone.

Re: Replacing Cab Mounts
If you are talking about the brackets that are riveted to the frame then I would say yes, you can do it just by jacking up the cab, but it won't be easy. Also, it will take quite a while to do them; they are not as quick and easy as they seem. Do you already have replacements? If you are talking about floor braces, well, that's a bit of a chore. Either can be done if the cab is jacked up enough, but both will require a lot of time and work.
