CST door emblem mounting hole location

Hello. I am looking to install a couple "custom" emblems on my 1968 doors and was wondering where to drill the holes. What size are the holes and how do they mount into the doors?

Re: CST door emblem mounting hole location

They mount with speed nuts just like the chrome piece that goes over the tailgate handle.. If nobody posts before tomorrow or Saturday morning i will post pics of the hardware and measurements . Rod.

Re: CST door emblem mounting hole location

Ok Rod. Thank you. I kinda figured that they mounted the same way as the tailgate trim piece that goes over the handle. I just haven't been able to find the little hardware piece that pushes into the door.

Re: CST door emblem mounting hole location

rod is half correct...... 68s use the same little nuts that you screw emblems on and in 67 they use the speed nuts that you just push in.... the cool thing is you can get 67 emblems take the speed nuts off and use the same nuts for emblems, and screw them on the back... it will be like brand new and very tight. and not loose from the wear of the pot metal. on my 67 the bottom of the emblem rides very close to the body line under the emblem, and has a taller gap from the top of them emblem to the body line above it.... it is also 14 inches from the back of the door to the front of the emblem. hope this helps.

Re: CST door emblem mounting hole location

Well the emblems I am expecting in the mail are off of a 68 so I guess I will need to fit my fingers or a wrench inside the door to install the speed nuts? Any tips to make it any easier? Thank you so much Rick for the measurements.

That was my plan to go through the top and not remove the door panel. Sounds easy enough. I'll let you know the results.

Should just be barrel clips for those emblems. (push ins) I don't think i have seen nuts on any of those emblems even through 72 on the blazers.

Would it be possible for your door to once again be a sample and could you pull a measurement for the location of the holes. Lol

Re: CST door emblem mounting hole location

Ok. I got my custom emblems in the mail today and sure enough there was one barrel clip on one of the studs. So next question where can I get four of those barrel clips at? I'm at lowes right now and no luck. Also is there anyone who can give me the measurements of where to drill the holes? I guess I can eyeball it if I have to but would rather it be exact. Thanks guys.

Thank you that does help, but I am still at a loss as to where to find these barrel clips. Also was hoping to get an excact location of the mounting holes so that I am not trying to eyeball where to drill.

Ok so I found the clips at a place called Auto Industrial Paint right here in Lodi. Only $3 for a bag of six. Ready to drill just as soon as I can get the location of the holes.

I checked 5 doors i have here and they vary from 13 1/4" to 14 1/4" from the back of the door like in post 4 or the first pic from ernesto. Just decide on your measurement, hold the emblem up and figure your hole location.

Take a piece of cardboard trim it to the size of the emblem and push it on the backside so the studs go through the cardboard.

Take the cardboard with the holes in it, measure on the door like the pictures above.

Take a sharpie and press it against the holes in the cardboard, then drill out the sharpie marks on the door.

Today I am replacing the P255/70r15 up front with some P245/60r15. That will give it a
1" drop up front.
