Steering wheel plug question

I purchased a Classic Performance Products steering wheel from LMC. I pulled the old steering wheel out this weekend. I was going to put the new one back in when I noticed the plug at the bottom of the steering column, right before the column goes through the firewall, was different. Should I be concerned? I've posted a picture of the new and the old steering wheel. It seems like I can just plug it into the two prongs on the left side. But, I don't know so I want to ask before I break something.

Old steering column.

New steering column.

Re: Steering wheel plug question

i think you should be ok. that connection is just for your reverse lights and as long as it is adjusted properly should perform the same function on either column.

Re: Steering wheel plug question

The first picture is a switch for back up lights only for a straight drive truck and the second picture is a nutural saftey/back up light switch for a auto column.

Re: Steering wheel plug question

Since I'm converting my Blazer from a 3 speed manual to an automatic, where do I find the plug that would go on the neutral safety switch?

Re: Steering wheel plug question

Try taking the neutral safety switch from your clutch and re-route to the column. Purple wire I think? Don't know if the plugs are the same but it's basically the way you might approach it.
Let me dig around and, if I have one, I'll pop it in the mail.

Re: Steering wheel plug question

A manual never would have had a neutral safety switch. Personally, I say don't worry about it. Put it in park when you shut it off and there should be no problem.
