Shipping questions [Engine]
Has anyone used a specific company to ship engines cross country? Seeing how im not a frequent customer of the shipping companies I've checked out, it will cost up to 380.00 to ship to a residential area. There's got to be a cheaper way... This was a quote from Roadway. Yellow freight isnt much better
Thanks for any info and references you can offer. |

You have to know somebody to get in on the big discounts. I had a 350 TPI with 700r4 attached shipped from South Carolina and it cost me $116.00 The guy I purchased it from had a 70% discount on shipping. What a sweet deal. I wish I had access to rates like that.

You might call fex ex they are in the truck freight game now, also if you can get someone on the receiveing end to get it at work where they have a dock that will save a few bucks. And if you can find a bud on your end that ships truck freight from work frequent shippers usally get a 60% discount.

Shipping from terminal to terminal will be cheaper, its easy to make an engine stand out of 2x4s and screw it to a 4 way pallet and shrink wrap with plastic, if you want a stand I have an extra one behind the shop and can get you a pallet and roll of wrap, I am down your way several times a week delivering to the Olathe school district food warehouse on blackbob road.

Thanks for the offer Blazerman. I've got some calling to do tomorrow to see if a better rate can be found and if I do, I'll holler at ya.
I live right around the corner from where you deliver lol. Both my sons go to BlackBob. Small world! |

Try Old Doiminion freight line, I shipped some tires with them and they had better rates than Yellow or Roadway.

I bought a stock motor from Scoggins Dickie in Lubbock Tx and it Shipped to Beaumont,Tx to the terminal at American Freight. It came with a motor stand( 2x4's). It cost me $80 for shipping. About 700 miles. They loaded it on my truck with a forklift and I brought it home(25 more miles). Hope this helps,
Guy

Piston,
You may want to check out Forward Air (www.forwardair.com). I was bidding on a 3 wheeler on e-bay and they had the best price to ship from Chicago area to Fort Worth. Didn't win the bid, so I can't comment on their service, but their prices were much better than the competition. Good Luck, Kent
