E.Brake Cable..Whats missing?

Looks like there is meant to be something fitted to the crossmember to hold the brake cable and stop the metal rods from rattleing on the crossmember because of the holes.

Nigel....look at this diagram, it's for a 67/68, but the difference is the hand pulled ebrake as opposed to the foot operated like yours...maybe it'll help ya....I'm not sure it's missing anything...

Re: E.Brake Cable..Whats missing?

Thanks mate, that diagram is certainly a help to see how to route the cable properly which is something else that's been bugging me....but still, I have the vaguest recollection of a pic showing the underside of someones truck, and there was a clip or something back there, may have been something the owner made...or I just imagined it

Re: E.Brake Cable..Whats missing?

Ahh this is great...and you guys are great as always.

Thanks LZ, and thank you c1069 for the pics...now I know this is the wrong arena, but do you need that particular bracket mate, I could give it a good home in the U.K for a few greenbacks

Edit; Two brackets? did different years have more than one? heck I got three holes on my CM.

I'm going to look under mine, cause I sure don't remember that little piece or maybe I haven't really looked at it. But, I bet that for half the price of shipping and the purchase price you could have a decent machine shop fabricate you one.

Re: E.Brake Cable..Whats missing?

Didn't see it on my 68 which has looped wire hangers. I did find the part number in the Impala site. Called a guide. Maybe call them to see if it's what you need.

Just do page search for the p/n.

Re: E.Brake Cable..Whats missing?

c1069's photo is correct...there are two of those brackets that the long cable passes through.

I cannot believe you would have something like that on that fine ride of yours FW

And mine is a 400 so it does seem to be correct that this is found on 400's only.

Mark that is extremely kind of you...I will have to cross your Palm with something though

Leddzepp says that there should be two and I have enough holes down there so...if you have two.

Dam, I wish I could say something proper here, about having made such good friends here, about the generosity & kindness of them & the like, but everytime I type something it just comes out sounding gay
Mark, if there is something you want or need from Blighty then let me know.

Re: E.Brake Cable..Whats missing?

Received my cable guides yesterday from board member CG (Mark) so I would like to thank him publicly for this amazing, generous and kind gesture...who would have thought that I would meet such great people and make such great friends as I have from joining this simple Truck forum...incredable.!

So thank you CG, I owe ya one mate.

No problem Nigel, glad I could help you out. Enjoy the little extra I put in there, but I wouldn't sprinkle it on your breakfast, you never know who's been driving across it lol.

The Gas & Oil taste would sure make it interesting, but it's the other kinda leak that would be harder to detect...just extra salty.
