Bushings

What are the advantages are the poly bushings other that lasting longer and nicer colors?

They are harder so they inhibit the suspension from moving in ways that decrease handling.

They will also make your truck ride rougher, and they are prone to squeaking. I plan to go with rubber.

How difficult to replace all the ones up in front? Any special tools needed? Weekend job? Sorry these are stupid questions but after all, I am still a 'junior member'

Control arm bushings are tricky. You need to find a good how-to. Ball joints can be stubborn. Sway bar bushings are a breeze.

Theres no such thing as a stupid question. If you dont ask you will never know or learn.

I plan to tackle my truck here in the near future but the above said is a start . coil springs are the biggest thing you have to be carefull.

Funny you should mention those front springs. I believe my middle aged girl could use some natural lift up front.

This truck will be used as a "pickup" truck. For my trips to Lowe's, Home Depot, Local plumming, Appliance, and Hardware stores.

I'm planning on hauling a ton in the 1/2 ton just like this truck has always done while in the family. Years of hard labor has loosened things up quite a bit and the rear leaf springs had to be replaced twice, even the factory 'heavy duty' rear springs didn't like the Pennsylvania pot holes (a.k.a chuck holes).

What it all comes down to is that I want to make the truck solid again and keep it that way for the next 20 yrs.
