Re: Chambered Vs Straight through mufflers?

I got Thrush Cherry Bombs for about $22 apiece at Advance Auto. Pretty loud at 2.5 inch straight thru, and it definitely pops when you let off. I've got 4.10s and a 3 speed, so if I let off the gas at pretty much any speed it sounds like you downshifted. Really crackles and pops, sounds pretty bada**. I've got Flowmasters and tailpipes on my Blazer, it won't do it hardly at all, even if you pull it down a gear or two. Sounds mean, but the popping effect is what the cherry bombs are known for.

Re: Chambered Vs Straight through mufflers?

10 series flows with about 12 to 18 inches from header collector then run 12 to 18 inches out of mufflers and weld on dumps. thats what flowmaster rccomends on the peice of paper that come with the 10's. not for street use is clearly stated. its the closest u can get to open headers

Re: Chambered Vs Straight through mufflers?

Remember, the closer you put the muffler to the engine, the more rasp it will have. So if you like the popping sound. put your mufflers close to the engine. Sounds like you want headers and glasspacks!

Re: Chambered Vs Straight through mufflers?

If tomorrow is successful Ill post you a video. I spent today mocking up my exhaust setup. summit headers, about 2 foot of pipe, then thrush glass packs, and another foot or so of pipe before turning down at the axle. Eventually I want to take it up and over the axle and out the back as it was stock. This is my first exhaust setup Ive done myself, so Im not sure if Ill accomplish the up and over tomorrow or not. Anyhow, good luck with getting yours worked out.

Re: Chambered Vs Straight through mufflers?

Well I got it all together today. I have to go out for hangers in the morning. Hopefully the video will be done soon. It was dark by the time I finished tonight.

Re: Chambered Vs Straight through mufflers?

Straight pipes. And keep some cheap mufflers to throw under it at inspection time. I have a 2010 gmc running just cats, with 5 inch tips, I wouldn't have it any other way
