just picked up a square body
I just got me an 85 Silverado. I upgraded 18 years from my 67s. About the power door locks; if I get these fixed, will both of them lock & unlock from the drivers side or with the key on the driver's side?

Re: just picked up a square body
back then they didnt do the thing with the key you had to open the door and flip the switch from either side to open the doors.. that was back in the good old days when they even had key holes on both sides..
hey show us some pics of your truck too while youre at it

Re: just picked up a square body
Yea my '86 blazer silverado you have to flip the switch up or down in side to get the locks on both sides to work. Then each door with the key. Do you have any pics yet I would like to see some as well.

Re: just picked up a square body
Aftermarket remote keyless is the way to go - push the button and both locks open/close.

Re: just picked up a square body
Yeah the switch should lock both,Locking all doors with the key is kinda a newer car thing back when these trucks was new power locks in a truck was kinda a new thing same with power windows. From the mid 90s back most pickups was used as a work truck not like today where most new trucks are used as a car.

Re: just picked up a square body
I found my lock problem. The driver's side just needed lubricated & the passenger side needed a new actuator. I got 2 actuators for 50 bucks from Flea Bay. Then my wiper delay quit. I searched the site & then found a module for 20 bucks on Flea Bay.

Re: just picked up a square body
That is one thing i love about older trucks and cars most small parts are still dirt cheap to buy and easy to repair yourself.

Re: just picked up a square body
you can add that with a single wire in the driver side door. my 94 stepper just unlocked the driver side via the key.. added a wire from the lock to the pass side unlock switch,, you can not lock or unlock just one side anymore, but i do not miss that

Re: just picked up a square body
I finally got my wiper delay module from Ebay. I installed it, but the problem is it was working intermittently & it made me wonder if it might be the switch or the wiring because when I installed the new module, the wiper delay mode was working. I guess time will tell. I installed it yesterday afternoon & it is still working this morning. Also, the other day I had frost on the windshield & I was squirting washer fluid on the windshield & the passenger side wasn't working. When the windshield got defrosted, I could see that the washer fluid was squirting forward over the hood. Luckily, it was just the hose that had come off. That pump sure has alot of power.
