Honda CT-70
Summer before last I was trolling craigslist when I found this gem. A 1973 Honda CT-70. If you were a kid, back in the day. You might have owned one, your uncle owned one, or one of your friends owned one. It brought back some fond memories of an ill spent youth. I had to buy it.
The tired 70cc engine didn't quite have the power I remember as a Kid so I swapped it out for a brand new 110cc engine. As you can see in the pic's I had to leave off the skid plate. The new engine is a bit bigger. Some day I might fab up a stock looking one. I am not the first to do this conversion and you can find plenty of others on the net. But what I did differently then all the rest is to wrought the throttle cable into a hole I drilled under the frame and out the front wiring harness grommet and up to the handle. Everyone else buys a funky bent intake tube that offsets the carb to one side. It looks wrong and lame to me. I always lean toward a stock look in anything I do. The bike is licensed for the road and I zip around town now and again for comedic value. The speedo go's to 50 and that 110cc can get the bike up to that and a little more. It makes a cool pit bike and a fun toy to bring camping too. |

Re: Honda CT-70
I powdercoat at least one of those a week. There's a huge market for restoring them.

Re: Honda CT-70
Had the same color as a kid. Traded it for a 61 Renault Dauphine, hated that car. (looking back it was sorta cool)
Why is it I feel the need for another CT-70?

Re: Honda CT-70
That would be cool Screamin c10. My blazers need work before I dare take them to a show though. For one of my Blazers. I want to build a rear bumper that I can mount this little bike on. I have entered the C10 in a bike show at Porky's Bar and Grill in Longview, WA once. It got so much attention. On the entry form it asked what the name of your bike was. I put "Harley" It was hilarious. Doesn't your little bike has a 125 in it? That is an awesome bike.

Re: Honda CT-70
Where did you buy the new engine? My winter project is a ct90. Ive been thinking of going with a atc 125 motor or a lifan 150. But ya know a stock 110 motor might not be a bad idea either. Id really like to keep the dual range trans though.

Re: Honda CT-70
glad to hear you like the lifan. I plan to have one myself. We have 2 ct90s. One will be rebuilt to specs with the dual range trans, for my wife. Then Id like to do a lifan 125 or 140 for myself. Im about 250 pounds so Ill need the extra cc's just to keep up with my 140 pound wife on a 90cc.

Re: Honda CT-70
Cool bike! The old Honda's are pretty neat... I've got a Honda Trail 55 that belonged to my grandma. It was stored in a barn since the mid-80's. I brought it home, dumped some gas in it, and she started right up third kick!
