Truck Shipment from Ca to Ok
Hello everyone, I just purschased a 74 K20 on ebay and am looking for a reliable auto transport company to ship it home for me. I am currently in Iraq and getting on the phone and calling around is a little difficult. I have gotten quotes online around 800 but would like to save a little if I can. If you have any suggestions let me know, Thanks! Here is the link to what I purchased http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...84.m1423.l2661

Re: Truck Shipment from Ca to Ok
I checked into shipping a while back and got a range of prices. $800 sounds about where it should be. Funny thing is...all of these companies will tell you that only 'they' are reliable enough to ship your truck. They all say that the other companies will not pick up your truck in a timely manner and will mess up the whole deal in some way or another. Apparently alot of drivers wont make pick ups if they cant see a big payday coming. I eventually started to believe them all and decided to do my own shipping, so it turns out that when trying to screw the competition they ended up screwing themselves.

Afterwards I looked into it, and at that time (maybe it's still this way) when you called "Joe's Car Delivery Transport", you weren't necessarily talking to Joe. You were likely talking to a broker who would post your vehicle on a board listing where it was to be picked up, and dropped off. Then drivers of various companies could scan the board and if it was convenient for them to pick it up, one would. If it wasn't, you waited. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, but that's how I remember it--a messed up, clear as mud system. So be careful, and read as much as you can about how this works... |

If you try USHIP, use the option to name your price, and in the comments section state BROKERS NEED NOT REPLY. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Truck Shipment from Ca to Ok
Approx where is this truck, maybe a board member that is close could help you store it or possibly over see the loading since you are defending our country.

Re: Truck Shipment from Ca to Ok
The truck appears to be in covina, about 100 miles north of me. I dont have a good place to park it at my place. I could head up there to help with loading if necessary, but maybe the seller would take it to meet the semi driver out by the highway in a large lot to load the truck. I did the math on this one and the $800 dollars really isnt bad considering that gas over a 1,400 mile trip is going to run you about $500. Throw in the labor, and wear and tear on the truck and you've got a decent deal. I know its a chunk of change but gas is 4 bucks!

Re: Truck Shipment from Ca to Ok
I did some price shopping on car transporters this morning....Glenn at car shipper usa (866)888-2401, had the lowest quote. Alex at Capitol transport(866)346-4322, was also very competitive. Debbie at Reilly Auto(818)914-0733, in Los Angeles was close behind within 10%. As was Rene at One Shot Express(954)874-0940. Hope this helps....Tim

Re: Truck Shipment from Ca to Ok
I'll have to dig up the company I used to ship an Audi from CA to CO a few years back. I think I paid $525, the only problem was they were a day later than they told me and never called to give me an update......I was worried that something happened.
I would use them again however. Getting ready to head out for the night, I'll dig it up when I get back or first thing in the morning. |

Re: Truck Shipment from Ca to Ok
Something else I'd consider is looking for others along the way wanting parts or in your region....or buy some more parts in the area of your truck and have the shipper pick them up as well....might help defer some of the costs when you can sell the parts...or split shipping w/others

Re: Truck Shipment from Ca to Ok
Contact Jim Long aka "FearlessFossil". He lives in Fallbrook, Ca. and is a retired Army Vet. I have had him ship a couple vehicles for me. He is a great guy and very reliable. If you google "fearlessfossil" you will find his ebay name and ways to contact him.
I see the truck you bought is in Covina. Jim would be the man to contact IMO.
