Door panels interchangable?
I was wondering if the '72 door panels would fit on a '71 without modding it? I like the look of the '72 better. Anyone try this before?

Re: Door panels interchangable?
Thats a stumper for me, I never had a '72. I think they all fit each other, though. I know the '67-'71's are interchangable. My faves are the '67-'68's.

Re: Door panels interchangable?
You will need to have 72 regulators to go with 72 panels. 72 panels also mount differently, but can still be made to work fairly easy.

Re: Door panels interchangable?
As Eric stated, the 72 regulators are longer shanked. The reason 67-71 door panels work on 72' doors is that the shanks are longer, though there will be an bigger gap between the panels and cranks. A 72 door panel will be too big for the earlier regulator shanks without using strong force and damaging the plastic of the panel or the applique if Cheyenne Panels. Trevor

Re: Door panels interchangable?
You will also have to do some work on the screw holes
the 71 and older screw on and the 72 use the plastic snaps if you pop out the nut holders on a 71 or older door for the plastic 72 door holders the holes are just a little to big to hold the retainers tightly
