I found a holley 500 #4412 on craigslist for $150. Is there something I should check for before I buy it? The guy said it was like new about 25 hours on it. Still has the choke hardware on it. He said it was used on an industrial truck. I know these are $300 carbs so the price is good. Oh yeah I'm putting it on my V6 305. Thanks

Bought mine for $10.00, I went ahead and put a kit in it although the guy said it was ready to go. kit cost 24.95. They are good carbs.

I put one on my V6 as well. Ebay item I believe; around $125 a few years back I believe. It was a barely used Circle track Carb. I went off the Sellers rating and pics of the carb. Sorry, I know that doesn't answer your question directly, but mine just bolted on and worked great! You should be quite happy with the results.

If it were me, I`d just put it on and try it out, the most it could need would be gaskets which you`ll find out right away...if it needs it.

Does the add have pics of the carb ? if it looks ok it should be ok unless he was running salt water in it.

Here it is, It's a little dirty. Also the adapter, don't have threads to bolt down the carb. You have to bolt it down with bolt and nuts. Did I get the right one?

That appears to be correct and looks pretty clean. The adapter should have all the bolts you'll need to attach the adapter to a GMC two barrel manifold and the studs to place the Holley as well. You will have to to "hog out" the GMC intake to match the plenum areas.

What do you mean by "HOG OUT" the intake. I thought it was an easy bolt on task.

When you place the adapter on the factory GMC two barrel intake, you will see that the opening on the adapter is larger than the GMC opening. You will need to "port-match" the two. I traced the inside difference with a marker and grounded out the opening to match. The "hogging" term I picked up from another site, but I believe this was the intented meaning.

Ok I installed the carb and had to adjust a little but runs fine, but when I was revving the engine I noticed that it was leaking tranny fluid from the front of the tranny. So I guess if its not one thing, its another.
