how much modification to the bed floor is needed to install the thornbeck bros step notch (or other similar large notches)? ive been looking and searching, but it seems like a subject that is overlooked. or maybe no mods are needed at all and im over thinking it. who's to say i guess? haha just trying to get a game plan going to get this truck LOooWWW

Re: thornbeck brothers step notch question
Depends on how big of notch you go with, I went with a PB Step notch big enough to lay frame on a 31" tall tire. We also went with a raised bed floor of almost 9" to clear the top of the notch.

Re: thornbeck brothers step notch question
Did the thorbecke bros step notch and just cut out the floor. Remove inner fenders, measure twice and cut with a sawzall. Real simple.
Can't post pics at work but here is my build: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=415887

:::::not trying to jack the thread here::::::::
Hey Gvizzle....youre rear tires are 285/35/22 right at 30.1" does it touch the top of the fenders with the body drop or you have plenty of room under there?....im trying to get my rear tire size figured out for my 24's but dont want them to stick over the bed rail whel laid out, not quite my style..lol.....also get that lic. plate to pivot so the rear can lay out some more :P |

No there is room so the tires wont rub, I was even thinking of stepping up to a 40 series in rear if theres any extra room. So far so good that is why he put so much extra time into the tubs so it wouldn't rub. As far as the license plate pivot.........stay tuned....... |

Re: thornbeck brothers step notch question
this pic is actually a Thoerbeck notch (keep in mind the bedfloor is raised 4 1/2 inches in this pic) i think 9 inches was about right on mine, i raised the bedfloor 4 1/2 inches and it still sticks up about 4 inches on mine

Re: thornbeck brothers step notch question
mike you gonna raise it more? or put a notch cover....hey its different with a raised bed floor and notch cover....least it wont be some massive hump.....should do a tear drop notch cover and make it raise up for access to the goodies underneith.

67cheby-
I really like how you did a combo of the raised floor and the tunnel. That's what I was planning on doing with mine as well, just clearing the upper link bars and tunneling the rest. Thanks for the pic!! Posted via Mobile Device
