Hello all,

I need your help: I don't want to use on my 1965 C10 the original wheels with the 6.70 tires. No problem in the USA, but in Germany it is no longer street legal to install bigger tires than the original, on a classic car (max. 2 size bigger are allowed).
Sole exception: If I could demonstrate, that it was a common practice to install bigger wheels (within the first 10 years after the initial registration), then the German technical inspection agency (TÜV) will turn a blind eye.

So, now my question: Has anybody old magazines, brochures, parts catalogs or pictures of the early seventies that could help me?
My goal is to legalize minimum 235 (better 255) tires on 8x15 rims.

Your truck could have been optioned with a taller tire and rim from the factory. You could use any larger wheel and tire till 1975 then? The 74 Chevrolet Blazer had a 15"x8" standard steel wheel available from the factory that looks identical to your stock 5" steel wheel. You could option the truck originally with up to a 7.00 x 17.5" tire

The 8x15 rims would be Ok. Do you have such a list for trucks until 1975? Which tire size had the Blazer in 1974/1975?

At the moment my C10 is fitted with 245/60/15 on 8x15" rallyes in the front and 295/50/15 on 10x15" in the rear. It looks really brute. Everybody likes it, but not the guys from the technical inspection agency

It seems, that the maximum tire size on 15"" rims was G78x15 or 8.15x15. Converted: 225/75/15.
Hmm, still a little bit skinny.
In worst-case I assemble this wheels for the inspection day, and later the old ones back.
Problem is, that the allowed tire size is written in the German vehicle registration document. The next police stop could be a problem.

Yes, the germans are really crazy. Skinny tires is mandatory. To drive with it 200 mph on the Highway is allowed....
