I found a bed for cheap that I'm looking to pick up but it has dual tanks where as my truck right now has a single. How much of a pain in the arse is it to run the wiring and what not to change the truck over. Or should I just mount a fuel cap there and forget about it.

Why do you need to get a new bed? If you wanted you could take the drivers side bed panel off of your truck and swap it with the one on the new bed. I swapped an 84 side on my 77 so I could get the fuel door. I didn't get a new bed but if I did and I didn't add a second tank it would bother me (bit OCD).....I would think making it a duel setup would require more money than anything in the long run.

You'll need a tank, filler neck, mounts, sender, valve, lines, and wiring. Probably $250 in new parts.
I'd go with the later motorized valve and wiring. Pollack has discontinued the earlier solenoid valve and knockoffs are...

THE10Silverado I think we are looking at this 2 different ways lol. I'm buying an entire replacement bed due to both of the trucks I'm building have rust around the wheel wells. The white 79 has the side of the bed caved in even.

Hatzie WOW I didn't realize it would cost that much. sounds like I may just stick a cap on that side and call it good. Unless one of our parts trucks has the wiring and what not then I'll whistle a different tune.

The tank is $100 new. The selector valve is $100 new. I was guessing $50 for miscellaneous parts.

If you have two trucks you have all of the tank and bracket bits you need unless they're rotten. Tanks and brackets can be used on ether side by turning the sender and brackets 180.

The wiring is a sub-harness and should be fairly cheap used. The master sender and power wires terminate on the firewall block in the engine compartment. Everything else can be pulled off the frame and out of the cab without opening another loom.

The fuel lines are the most tedious part of the project.
