Gas tank again?

Out of curiosity:

Is there a reason a guy couldn't cut the botto leg off the C channel fram rail and open the widthe up to a full 33.5 inches to accept a wider tank?

I would of course reweld a new angle to the outside bottom of the frame rail to give it strength.

I don't like the idea of hanging a tank under the bottom since it hangs too low.

A tank 33.5 x 23.5 x10 inches or so would be a perfect fit. Assuming a guy could find one that size.

Re: Gas tank again?

A 33.5" wide tank would leave basically no bottom flange. I think if you were to add a flange on the outside like you said, that should be fine. I would extend it forward at least a couple inches past where you remove the lower flange on the inside.
