Bought another truck! '63 c20 fleetside

Here's a truck I picked up at an auction yesterday for $800. Has v8 4speed. Bottoms of fenders have been patch and there is one small hole in the corner of the drivers door, and the speaker grille in the dash is rusted. other wise it is rust free. Truck is suposed to run and drive but need some brake work.

All those funky colored spots on the door is spray paint covering an old business name that was painted on the door. I am hoping to remove all the spray paint and have the logo showing again. I may buff the whole truck out, but I cant decide if I want it shinny or dull.

Also, is it original for it to have a fawn colored fire wall?

I just went and looked at mine... it's black, but under that there appears to be grey. My truck was originally blue though... could be they used different colors. Yours looks original.

I paid almost twice that out here in "Needs Brakes and Might Run" condition but hey, when you want a C20.... Nice score!!

If it's the original engine it would be a 283. The original 4 speed would be a SM420.

I would say you did good.

There was some discussion in another thread not long ago regarding the firewall colors, depending on what factory they were built in. I don't remember which one painted the firewalls the interior color.

Great score, congrats!

Was it a farm auction? Estate auction?

Re: Bought another truck! '63 c20 fleetside

It was an auction at a salvage yard. They bought out an old salvage full of old cars. This truck was not on the sale bill. The salvage yard owner has had this truck in a storage unit for the last 10-15 years and decided to put it in the auction. I went with no intentions of buyin anything and came home with this truck and a pair of RUST FREE inner fenders for 60-66 chevy trucks as well. They were piled up with a big pile of scrap metal!!

Re: Bought another truck! '63 c20 fleetside

we have been trying to figure out the plants that produced the fawn firewall, on the vin tag on the driver door pillar, should be 3c254, and then what letter ?(this is the production plant)
very stock untouched truck... if you are close you should go back and see if the guy has the hubcaps laying around somewhere...

Re: Bought another truck! '63 c20 fleetside

I have the two front caps and all 4 origional 15" 8 hole split rim wheels. They were in the bed. But, the original wheels and caps were the "clip" style rather than the "bump" style. So I cant put them on these wheels. After seeing another thread of a 3/4 ton I think I want some '72 3/4 ton caps! or, any 60's style c20 caps that will fit.
