Old Newbie from Smyrna, Tn.

Hello my name is Greg and I picked up my latest project last week and know I will need lots of help. Its a 1965 short stepside runs and drives, but I am a retired auto mechanic with no body work experience.

From what I can see she looks pretty solid. Have any ideas on what color you want to paint it?

Re: Old Newbie from Smyrna, Tn.

Thanks Guys.........I looked at the date that I started this post and it has been a year almost to the day, and during that time I got that disease and I am eat up with it. I have 3 of these trucks now and I can'tt stop.......someone please help, tell me how to stop.
I worked on the steppy and got it running real good, fixed a lot of small stuff just to keep busy and then the carrier bearings started making way too much noise and I decided to go ahead and start on the restoration.
Shortly after taking the bed off and stripping the insides out, I discovered that I had to have another truck to drive while working on the steppy, so at the big swap meet in nashville, I found a 65 short fleetside and it turned out to be my D/D I promise I was going to take pictures today but ran out of time.....tomorrow. Then I was surfing C/L and ran up on a 66 long fleet, that I thought was going to be a parts truck, but guess what.....its too nice to part out.

Re: Old Newbie from Smyrna, Tn.

Sorry Tony I didn't answer your Question........I am leaning on white with ghost flames, but that could change as I have a lot of metal work to do first.

Re: Old Newbie from Smyrna, Tn.

Sounds like you have a few different paint schemes to play with on the other trucks you have. You only live once and I figure why deprive yourself. I got Camaros hangin' and a '72 pickup on the trailer that is the next project. As long as you don't let'em sit for 5yrs at a time its okay.
Great pickups.

Thanks guys, if your close to Smyrna (nissan) tn. let me know we can get together and talk trucks. I don't know anyone close that is building or owns a old truck.........there is times you could use some extra muscle.

Man, I used to work on dirt and gravel floors at home in the early days cus us wrench benders would work all day on cars and work half the night just to make enough money to make it. So I decided that when I retired that I would build a nice shop. Me and a fishing buddy built it in 1999. I'm really not good at this forum thing, but I do have a lot of shots of tear down and did a bunch of shots of replacing the upper and lower control arm bushings 1973-1987 and wished that I had done a video on replacing them as I know how hard they are to do.
