Throttle cable
Is there any way to shorten a throttle cable on a 71? I was looking at mine and it looks like the pedal is about halfway down and the cable looks like it is about an inch too long.

Re: Throttle cable
I did on my 69 and used 2 ferrules at the end (to be on the safe side).

Re: Throttle cable
I know this is gonna sound dumb but when you say ferrules are you talking about a ferrule like on a fitting? Or is there something I can crimp on?

Re: Throttle cable
Don't remember where I got them but they were crimp on. Also called cable stops. I didn't use the ball type mine were small cylindrical ferrules.

Re: Throttle cable
That looks like what I need. Now to find them. What did you use to crimp it?

Re: Throttle cable
You're testing my memory... it's been about 15 years ago but IIIRC I had the cable off and used a hammer and tapped them on. Might have to shorten the sleeve also.

Re: Throttle cable
Home depot or Lowes, in the chain and cable area, can crimp with electrical crimpers, they make small ones
