Putting a Big Block in a C10
For you guys that have put big blocks in these years of c10's what kinds of things did you do to your trucks to compensate for the extra weight and power? Upgrade suspension any? Disc brakes all the way around or just in front? Or does the suspension even need to be improved since some of these trucks came with big blocks from the factory. My '69 currently has a 307, so maybe it doesn't have some of the same compenents that the big blocks came with. I'm not sure though.
Thanks |

Big block springs in front (i think), different tranny, bigger radiator, different motor mounts. Even the older BB trucks had drum brakes all the way around.

Re: Putting a Big Block in a C10
My 72 long box C10 came from the factory with a small block and has a 396 now but had the heavy duty front and rear springs ( coils all the way around) and the truck sits, rides and handles as it should.

How do you know if the springs are heavy duty or not?

Re: Putting a Big Block in a C10
If they are stock, the spid should say "heavy front/rear spring" if they are heavy.
