Bed bolts
Hi,
I have a 1965 GMC short wide. I am in the process of doing the box floor with new Southern Yellow pine. When I took the bed apart and removed the rails, I found that I had Ribbed neck carriage bolts, sometimes called Track bolts. I am having a hard time finding these, as they are not a very common bolt. First, has anyone else come across this type of bolt in thier box, and Second, were you able to find replacement bolts. If yes, where? I am considering buying new strips and bolts, but the originality aspect intrigues me. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Ken Montreal |

Re: Bed bolts
Ribbed are usually for the strips that arent punched with square holes. If your getting strips from a vendor, ask for the punched ones and get the carriage bolts.

Re: Bed bolts
Ken, When I took apart my 64 long bed, it had some "star shaped holes" punched in the carriage bolt washers. Can't remember at the moment if the carriage bolt shanks were star shaped as well, or just the regular square type.
