Wheel dilemma, what would you pay for big lip?

I am currently in the process of my build and I decided to change out my wheels. I had a custom three piece set made of 20x8.5's and 20x13's made for the rear. I have ran them for a total of about 200 miles.

I am also adding a porterbuilt notch and bags currently and have the axle out for a little refreshing. True trac, 373's in the mail. I have been advised to add c clip eliminators to handle the 468 and the lower ratio. Then I need axles.

So.... I'm thinking I need to narrow the axle and get some more lip, but I just bought the wheels. I'm thinking about having new barrels made but am not opposed to starting over as I don't want to toss 20"x 13" barrels in the trash either. Currently running 5" out and 8" in and going to 7" out and 6" in. I either sell the wheels as a whole, they are big money and 20x13 isn't a common size or scrap the barrels, or I could get crazy and get a set of 22"s for the rear and run a spacer for the big ones when I run them.

What would you do? How much is 2 more inches of lip worth?

Oh yea I have a set of 20" bonspeed malibu's I will be offing soon as soon as the notch is done to, even though this isn't the classifieds if interested

Re: Wheel dilemma, what would you pay for big lip?

i have thought about this same thing on my rear wheels but when i set back and look at it i cant justify the extra $1200 to re hoop my back wheels dont get me wrong i do like the look of the big lips but i also think it looses the center design of the wheel if you sink it to far back....just my 2 cents

Good point from a viable source. YOUR opinion matters. Thank you for the opinion.

no problem man just my opinion, if money didnt figure into the equation i think i still would only split it less than half way, i dig the 12/13/14 inch wide stuff but i think 8 inches of lip just loses the face of the wheel

Like the width, they need more depth though. I was thinking of the Gcubes, which are very close to the look of the wheels you have.

That's the question. Should I trash hoops and put 7" lips and 6" backspacing on the 13" wide wheels? They are currently 8 back and 5 out.

Assuming you'd say yes.

Thinking I'm just going to shorten the axle 2"s a side and buy some 22" rears. 22" by 12" with 7 out and 5 in.

I'd recommend Modulare. Super tight tolerances. Lots of choices as far as style and finish. He does hidden hardware too. Mine are chrome lip and machined clear face.

Wish I would have thought of prior to axle thoughts. 2 months old!
