Progress pictures, frame is complete

If this picture works, you shold see a pic of my sandblasted and painted frame. It is reassembled with all new front end and brake parts, stainless steel bolts and brake lines and my rally wheels I bought. It is ready for the engine and tranny.

Red X. It works better if you post it from your hard drive. Just click on "brouse", find the pic in your hard drive, click on it and post.

What kind of seat cover, where did you get it and what was the cost if you don't mind me asking. It looks really nice and I would like to do the same in my truck.

stllookn,

The seat cover was about $275. I got it through Mother Truckers. I paid an upholstery shop $157 to sandblast the enitire frame of the seat, paint it, repad it and put the cover on. It was worth every penny, the seat looks and even smells like brand new.

brad, I still have quite a bit of engine detail to work on. I was test fitting the carb and breather to ensure that I had the valve covers on right, etc. I have about another week on the engine alone.

Thanks again guys, I wish my grandfather was around to enjoy this with me. He left the truck to me when he died. Back in the summer of 88, I stayed with my grandparents for about 6 weeks. I put about 10,000 miles on this truck in that time period, I had my learners permit and he made me drive everywhere. This truck became part of me that year. He died in 95 and I have been the only one to drive it since. I am thrilled to see it coming together so well now.

Nice Work! What did you use on you exhaust manifolds? Are they finished or just raw cast iron?

Jason is restoring this truck in his grandfathers memory and it will be one of the finest restorations in the USA when finished. No detail has been over looked on this truck and i'm very proud to be a minor part of it and see his dream come true.

That's going to be a sweet 'lil pickup, Seacrow. Your grandfather would be proud! I can really relate to what your doing as I got my grandfathers old '70 Chevy truck when he passed away. It's a shame more people don't try to keep these old trucks in the family. I knew when my grandfather passed away that I had to have his truck. Nobody else in the family loved these old trucks like me and would have taken care of it. I'll post some pictures of it soon.
Robert

toms68, I used "cast finish" high temperature paint. It probably won't last like almost all other paints I've heard of. I may get them powdercoated in the future, I wan't to make sure they are ok first.

MOther Truckers, Ed, thanks for the compliment. I'll be in tomorrow to see you. and BTW, I have all clear glass on the truck. It is not tinted. I'll talk to you tomorrow.

Roberty, good for you. I am a Ford man normally but this truck has a ton of sentimental value. It never let him down. He was not the original owner but he had it since about 1981. He bought it from the original owner when it only had about 30,000 miles on it. He had a 66 he was gonna restore and give to me but it was stolen, hence the purchase of the 71. He never got to do this one for me. So I am doing it for him. I want it to be really nice.
