Bucket Seat Mounting '84 3+3 CC

I'm in full on research mode for a project I hope kicks off 1st of the year. Fortunately for me, someone already started it, but I plan to finish it, although it's still going to be a full frame off build.

I'm looking at swapping the front bench in favor of a set of late model chevy buckets (integrated seat belts) into the cab, and was wondering if anyone has done it or knows what mounting options work best? Even if I had to fab something up to mate to the cab floor, I don't think it would be too difficult. My preference would be to find a kit to retrofit however. I see that Corbeau makes a seat bracket kit, but don't know if it bolts to the seat frames I'll be getting. Any insight would be appreciated!

For buckets you'll have to tack weld a riser with a nut on it so the inner seat rail can have something to bolt to, if not you'll put stress on the cab floor and the sheet metal will crack.

I will probably just have to keep my patience in check, and make adjustments "on the fly" when I actually have the truck in my possesion.

Many Suburbans came w/front buckets & a console. They have the brackets required for the trans tunnel side. They're spot welded to the floor though & will take some persuasion to remove if you have to do it manually.

I put seats from an 05 in my 84 CC they were the 40/20/40 bench seat but I would guess the seat mounts very much the same way. I lowered the floor boards 3 inchs basically took the hump off both sides Wish I had went lower Then I put a pitce of 1/4 by 4 flat iron bolted to the bottom of the seat and then bolted that through the floor board and put some big square washers i made on the botttom side of the cab worked pretty well I used all the rails and power stuff off of the 05

That is what I did, essentially. I cut the floor down so that the floor behind the front seat runs straight to the ribbing that is between the bumps in the floor.
I cut them down built flanges to support the new top, built a top with beading for strength and ran 1/8 plate from the rear floor under the seat mounts up to the bump and on to the original front floor.
I plug welded the 1/8 plate to the floor and stitched it from the bottom.
Probably overkill but better that than too weak.

I used 2000 GMC seats and took off the 1" risers and like the way they sit.

One word of advise - if you get the Corbeau brackets - they'll need to be modified for the crew cab floor. I bought them & their Moab seats & they had to be modified in my 77 crew cab. Other than that though, they were high quality & worked out great!

I have no idea why it always causes me problems , I'm on several forums and it rarely works, maybe its a mac issue , maybe im just dense....

I put bucket seats out of something in my crew cab and what I did was lay 1" squar tube across the floor, so it spanned from driver to passangers front and rear. and once I had the tub setting squar I made tabs that I bolted into the stock seat mounting locations then welded them to the 1" tube then I mounted the seats to the tube and I found a center councel I liked and I was able to mount it to the tubing also. THE nice part is I could unbolt the brakets and pull both seats and councel out as a whole
