Go to Mar-k's website, they have all the information for cutting your own wood, it shows how wide, how deep the groove is and how wide the edges are. Go down to your local lumber supplier and buy some #2 or #3 pine 1" x whatever is the closest width, throw it on the table saw and make your own wood. I did my whole bed for $56.00 not including hardware, and it came out pretty good. Kieth
After we had cut to width and dido's the edges......#3 pine http://kieth.smugmug.com/Trucks/66-G...83248352_wGtVX As we painted the wood: http://kieth.smugmug.com/Trucks/66-G...56429224_ovJCN Finished: http://kieth.smugmug.com/Trucks/66-G...185190_7gSSnFJ |

Wood workers regard 1" planned as 5/4". Because it takes a 1 1/4 inch thick rough board to plane it down to an inch.

I got strips from mar k and got wood from local home depot, used father-in-laws table saw and dado blade and did mine.

Well there's "CHEAP" which would be free plywood and "INEXPENSIVE" which is what everybody else is telling you to do.
