1965 factory interior colors and styles Help!

Does anyone know ( or better yet have printed info ) on the factory correct interior colors on a 1965 c10?

what color is the column and wheel ?

what color is the white on the door panel?

is the two tone on the door panel the entire center part or just the "ring" on the door panel?

what are the differences between a custom cab colors and plain jane colors?

I would love to see printed info such as a 1965 factory option brochure or something showing the inside of the cab.

I have found threads for different years but not the 65

HELP please

Re: 1965 factory interior colors and styles Help!

The column and steering wheel are both the same fawn color as the sheetmetal. I'm pretty sure that they were satin finish originally but I sprayed them with gloss clear so the finish would hold up better on the '65 I restored. I think that the whole inner stamping on the '65s door panels were painted, and '66s had just the recessed band painted, but I could have that backwards. I would think that the color would be the same as on the painted bumpers and grills.

Here's a couple pics of the '65 I restored, its fairly close to how it would have left the factory.

i thought all were white ring only on the door panel - I've seen some filled in with white, but I always thought it was "owner added". I don't know for certain though (sorry) - mine's a 66 and is just the ring as astronaut just mentioned.

Re: 1965 factory interior colors and styles Help!

The names and codes should not be too hard to find with a little poking around on this site. I quickly came up with a couple reference photos for '65.
First pic is a standard vinyl bench and all fawn paint which would be correct for the plain-janes. Next are a couple shots of the deluxe seat and two-tone door panels from my own '65 Suburban which is totally original (not restored). Besides a gray cab floor (not shown) and split seat, I think everything else is the same as a pickup.

Thanks guys!!! and OEM4ME your truck and suburban is perfect for these types of questions....

What is the difference between the two types of arm rests? I have seen the one piece more square type and the two piece more rounded version. Is one a deluxe version?

63 was the transition year from the round type (pictured below) to the square type as in oem4me's picture. I have seen however the round type on some 64's.

Hmmmm...I always thought that the squarish arm rests weren't available until the '66 model year.

Is the Deluxe seat cover available anywhere for restoration purposes?

As far as I know, no. Seems a ripe place to start a specialty business. SMS has the fabrics, but nobody is selling pre-sewn kits ...yet. Anyone?

I really like the Deluxe seat. If I can't find it, I'm gonna do something similar in houndstooth.

Seat covers that imitate the Custom Comfort Seat. Now that would sell! Course it would have to be made offshore so we could be able to afford it.

smsautofabrics.com and their phone number is (503)263-3535,but it was about 18 years ago when i checked so good luck on your search.they go way back on upholstery material so more than likely they will still have it.

Re: 1965 factory interior colors and styles Help!

Some but not all interior features are year specific. Whats correct for a '64 may be incorrect for a '65 or '66. I highly recommend purchasing a '65 sales brochure. '64s used rounded inside arm rests while '65 and '66's used rectangular arm rests. Custom cab door panels were solid white for '64 and '65, only the outline ring was white on '66 Custom Cabs. Cloth and vinyl seats were standard on custom cab pickups and optional on standard cab pickups.Pattern on cloth and vinyl seat is the same on '64 and '65's, different on '66's. Pattern on standard all vinyl seat is the same on '64 and '65's different on '66's. Steering columns and wheels are white on '64s, but fawn on '65's and 66's. Custom cab horn ring same on '64 and '65, different on '66. Dash painted fawn on '64 and '65's, but dash painted flat brown on '66's. Intrument panel surround trim painted black on '64 and '65's, but silver on '66's.

Re: 1965 factory interior colors and styles Help!

I think the ivory painted door panels on deluxe 64s and 65s are different. From what ive seen, 64s have the raised inner part and the recessed ring painted, while 65s have only the raised inner section painted, and not the recessed ring. Take a look at oem4me's 65 suburban, the rings aren't painted. Does anyone have an untouched 64 to check this?

66 dark fawn dashboards also had a texturing agent added in, the finish is not smooth.
