Help with Final adjustments
I have had a reasonable difficult time adjusting my rockers. It seemed that every time I adjusted the rockers they would change. I came to find a large vacuum leak at the base of the carbourator, where the gasket goes. I changed the gasket and the engine runs well, what a diffferent.
I am now left with a rocker noise on load, that is when I give it gas. Is this good or do I need to further adjust my rockers. The sound is not loud but I some what feel to it should not be there. |

Re: Help with Final adjustments
Is this a new or old motor? I just fired up my 454 after an extended period of sitting and it rattled for awhile until it warmed up.....now it's ok.

Re: Help with Final adjustments
Do you have screw in studs and is it a stock cam or larger lift? I have had larger cams actually unseat the press in studs and make adjustment impossible. You did use a zinc additive in your oil right?

Re: Help with Final adjustments
This engine is a 292 and I installed a new cam new lifters and new orings on the valves. I used a beak in oil to start her up.
Like I mentioned in my first post I ad a problem dialing in the rockers, but soon discovered a major vacuum leak. After fixing the leak the engine sounds and runs well. The only problem is that when I driving and it the gas it sounds like I still have to adjust the valves. I hear a little valve chatter. |
