Anyone running Pypes street pro mufflers?

Just wondering if anyone was running Pypes mufflers. Preferably street pros.

I want something other than flowmasters or glass packs. I want something that sounds good but is a little different. I posted in other threads but haven't found anyone running Pypes products. Any info would be great. Thanks!

I saw their display over the weekend at the turkey rod run in Daytona Beach, and their quality looked pretty good on their product. Don't know much else about them

Internal contruction is what you should pay attention to. The two main ones are perforated core (Magnaflow, glasspacks, etc) and baffled(Flowmaster and the copies). Of course, they all will sound different between brands and models but the fundamental tone is mostly the same for a given internal construction.

Of course there are other mufflers like Spintech and some others that have totally different internal construction from the two I've described. I've never heard any of these in person though.

I don't have there mufflers but I was just looking at the 3" x pype with dumps and their electric cutouts. The seem to have a great warranty on the cutouts. They have sound clips on their website. They sound good to me.

put a flowmaster and a thrush muffler together and you get a pypes muffler, nothing real unique about them

look up spintech, they charge on material cost not sound like magna slow and flowbastard

Well its a toss up between Pypes Street Pros and SpinTech Pro Streets...? I just DO NOT WANT DRONE!!! My old flowmasters DRONED me out for a lifetime!!!

I was going to go with Corsa mufflers but they know longer sell just they mufflers. They only sell exhaust systems.

I want a muffler that sounds good at idle and acceleration but tolerable when cruising. My '98 ss Camaro had blowmasters and you had to yell at the person sitting next to you in order to hear them. Same with my '66 Chevy pickup.

Any more recomendations or info on Pypes Street Pros vs SpinTech Pro Streets?

ive had experiance with both mufflers on a xpipe header system

fact: all mufflers drone its just when in the rpm the frequency peaks
flowmasters are known to drone out at cruise and magnaflow a little under cruise and pypes just drone when you go up a hill or down or anything inbetween

i like pypes sustems in fact i recomend them but the mufflers a say are just as bad as in store thrush mufflers, cheap and good for noise

the spintech were an unkown to me but i went ahead and bought the pro street 6000 thousand (little louder than super 40's) and they drone just off idle about 1000 rpm so when you back up or are slowing to a near stop they drone breifly but this is tolarable cause its not a cruise or a rpm range thats in constant use

this my experiance, they sound awsome like nothing else and i like em

drone will depend on how you set up your system, you must have tailpipes or any muffler will resonate and rattle your brains to mush

do you have any pictures of how you ran your X-pipe and how low it hangs? I am going with a similar setup, X-pipe, Spintech, then 45* to exit before rear tires.

Are you saying the tailpipes also made a difference?

I was planning on running an xpipe with turndowns that dump right behind the cab.

Or

My other alternative would be running an xpipe with the exhaust tips located just before the rear tire.

If I decide on the Pypes xpipe and the SpinTech pro streets which one would be a better option for my exhaust exit?

yes tail pipe made a world of difference, i recently just put some on ad my friend followed a day behind with his own (he has flowmaster 40's) we were both amazed at the higher quality sound from the muflers and the interior noise died down quite a bit although like most flowbastards it still drones you out on the road and highway and he has sound insulation and i dont even have so much as a carpet

so I would not recomend dumps unless you plan to be loud

my old man has a 2.5 '' x pipe system from pypes on his 69 superbee they do make a nice x pipe junction thats long and smooth

what i did was order the universal 3" xpipe from pypes and built the rest myself and came out ahead of most systems by saving a few hundred over a complete system just have patience and work in steps and be at least knowlagable with welding and sawzall work and it comes out fine

so having either tailpipes come out before the rear wheels or behind them or out under the bumper will help interior noise that our trucks are famous for

So what I'm getting at here, is dumps = louder. I don't think I want to have visible exhaust on mine, not a fan of the look. Yours looks good in the bed side,a friend did his like that on his suburban. I guess I need to go to the drawing board, I had no clue exhaust was so picky

Don't want to take away from the question of Pypes mufflers, but I highly recommend not dumping any muffler under these trucks if it's daily driven. I have dual thrush 2 chambers dumped with turndowns before the axle. Plus. the truck is lowered so it resonates on the ground a bunch. With the windows up, the engine at low rpm is annoying.

I desperately want tailpipes added but I don't think exhaust shops will touch my truck since my cats are removed... even if they would only be working muffler-back. Obviously I need to ask around but has anyone had this issue?

I have the street pro's on my truck. I have longtube heddman headers that go straight back through 2.5 inch stainless, and then the stainless mufflers and turndowns right before the rear axle.

The turn downs are at about a 45 degree angle. Turning them helps resonance just a tad. The drone is hardly noticeable. This video is right after I got the truck running again with the new exhaust and carb. I was still tuning it, so idle was pretty high. At WOT, they punch a good bark but normal driving, it is actually pretty quiet.

This is a true dual setup as well, no crossover pipe at all. With an X pipe, the tone will be much higher, especially at WOT. I had a 2000 GT Mustang with the Violators with an X pipe and full tails, it was LOUD at WOT.. but tame at cruise. The name of the Violators is fitting. The X pipe gave it a very exotic sound, similar to what an indy car sounds like. Everyone gave huge compliments on that mustang.

The build construction is great, in my mind. I ran the mufflers on that mustang for four years before selling the car without an issue.

Is an X-pipe necessary to go down the highway with 3" duals with tailpipes and overdrive? I'm putting the same 3" duals on mine and don't want the drone either.

exhaust gas velecoity and pipe layout does effect drone but muffler design is the major part of it

the only reason a 3inch x pipe may not drone so much is the exhaust velocity is lower and egual among the tubes,
