Headers and Control Arms - HELP!

OK fellas here's my latest issues...

First some background - doing the whole semi-frameoff thing...so far I've got the Porterbuilt mild notch in the back, 2.5" drop spindles in the front, SS-7 bags front and rear...

1) Headers - I'm kinda eyeballing the header/pipe junction below the truck and wondering if that is going to be the 1st thing to hit the ground if I let my bags all the way down. The geometry is kind of weird, I don't have the cab back on yet so I can't really tell what it's going to do once all the weight is back on the truck. So, do I go with the Summit "blockhugger" headers? Shorty Chevelle/Nova headers? Is the fact that I've got a clutch linkage going to be an issue with either one of these?

2) OK, up front I've got my bags mounted to the upper plates, attached to the edge of the upper spring housing and the bottom of the bags have that cylinder-shaped piece attached to the bottom to elevate it in the stock LCA spring housing area. Here's the rub (no pun intended). I've got my air system on a pallet now to check it out and look for trouble spots. When the front is all the way down, the edge of the bag is rubbing/resting slightly on the LCA. I've seen MANY MANY warnings about this being Rule #1 of bags - no touching of any other component EVER. SO how do I cure this? Since the cylinder just kinda floats around in the LCA, do I weld a 1/4" thick round plate to the bottom of the cylinder to elevate the bag some and to isolate it somewhat in the LCA? It's kind of a hokey way of doing stuff, but I'm sure you guys have seen it and have some advice.

I'm working on the same deal right now. I ordered the Sanderson Cc3 headers. They came in the mail yesterday! They look awesome

I recommend going with the Sandersons for these trucks. I've purchased 3 different types of cheap headers now to save $, and ended up paying the same amount for the Sandersons while having a set of Patriot block-huggers. The chevelle's hit my motor mount (2 different sets). The block huggers work, but routing the spark plug wires suck and I'm going to have to switch to the shorty style spark plugs. If I could do it all over again, I'd go with the Sandersons and be done with it even though they are on the spendy side.

It's true you don't want the bag to rub, but this area is common in almost any bag set up ince even when the bag fully collapsed on a flat surface, this area is still likely to rub. My bag does the same exact thing and I just plan to monitor it.

I agree - do it right the first time, vs. buying multiple sets trying to make it work
