Chrome bumper or paint?
I really wanted to chrome my mustache piece but it would have cost $250 plus shipping to Dallas, and it would only have been spray chrome. It's too beat up to plate. I had paint so I painted it and I think it actually looks decent. Now I can't decide whether to get an LMC bumper or paint the one I have. I only have about 4 ounces of paint left and another quart would cost $50 vs. $200 for the chrome bumper. Which would LOOK better?

Re: Chrome bumper or paint?
I vote for chrome. But based on a lot of the comments on this board, I do some checking around before I ordered from LMC.

Re: Chrome bumper or paint?
I am painting my bumpers and grille they same color as the interior, Silver Birch. It will contrast with a darker color. Chrome or painted will work with yours. I have the same issues with my bumpers as you.

Re: Chrome bumper or paint?
That orange just pops too bright to put a painted bumper on it, LOL. I vote for chrome, but then again the more chrome the better for me.

Re: Chrome bumper or paint?
It's funny...so you're saying I should use chrome to dull it down?

Re: Chrome bumper or paint?
Since you already painted the grill I vote to paint the bumper to give you the complete mono chrome look. Stay with the theme.

Re: Chrome bumper or paint?
Paint it and run it while you save for a new chrome one. A bumper has to be pretty sad before a good chrome shop can't fix it though. I've seen a buddy of mine work wonders when his family had the local chrome shop years ago.

Re: Chrome bumper or paint?
Post it in the photchop section, maybe someone can photoshop it both ways. I would lean toward paint since the uppers are painted. I had a 56 gmc and the mustache was beat up in all the worst places. Makes it real hard to fix espescially around the lights in the mustache.

Are the headlight buckets chrome? If so chrome the bumper or the eyebrows will look silly

Re: Chrome bumper or paint?
Both of those look good but it does seem either all parts are chrome or not. I have chrome headlight trim and polished grills so it seems I'm half and half. Found this pic and it looks good but still not sure...

Re: Chrome bumper or paint?
As you are on about buying a new chrome bumper anyway why not paint the one you have then if you do not like it spend the money on the new bumper. Personally I prefer the painted look.

Re: Chrome bumper or paint?
That's a hard one. All the examples shown were nice. I think you could have went either way and it still would have looked good. It does look great with the chrome.

Re: Chrome bumper or paint?
Good choice! I've always preferred the contrast of chrome over having everything painted, which strikes me as looking too generic...
