Re: transporters?
Bill Demoise trucking out of South Carolina. Owns the trucks, dependable, honest, takes care of your ride. Not the cheapest, but it's trusted enclosed shipping and they will not jack you around. He's bailed me out more than once. I'll never use anyone else.

Re: transporters?
I sold a T-bird conv. to a fellow in Oregon. He used Passport Transport out of St. Louis, Mo. I was amazed at their enclosed trailers, and how careful the driver was as he loaded it. The buyer was really pleased, too. The driver hand-carried the sellers money to me and returned with the title and car. I have no idea what they charge, tho.
I bet their trailer cost well over $200,000. All self-contained hyraulic operated from ground up into trailer. I'd sure use them if I have another one to move, unless their prices are too high for me. Cayoterun

Re: transporters?
I've gone through a variety of brokers twice. One not so good experience and one good. If you can use someone that others have used, such as Jocko's suggestion, you will probably be better off. Enclosed is more expensive than open transportation of course. We need photos of your purchase!

Re: transporters?
Just to follow up - I actually chose NOT to use Demoise originally, went with a broker that didn't advertise as a broker - got stiffed three days before I was moving cross country with nobody showing up and the lying/thieving broker saying "no truck driver will haul it for what we quoted you... but we can do it for +$500 more than that..." If I could have crawled throught he phone and strangled the bimbo I would have. This was a downright extortion attempt... Anyhoo, after I finished dealing with ANGELS MOVING AUTOS, I called Bill back - he graciously worked out an acceptable arrangement.
Here's a little more. I bought a truck from socal when I was on the east coast. He was bringing it to me, had JUST picked it up when my forged bill of sale arrived, along with a title with a dead guy's name on it. I asked Bill to stop his driver from coming any further east, and dump the sweet little truck on the consigner's lot - the guy I paid for it. In the end, all got kinda screwed - I got no truck and BARELY got my money back, the consigner got stiffed for a partial shipment payment, and the "actual" owner got his truck back (he had neglected to register it for ages and forged the now-dead previous owner's signature). But - Bill was GREAT. Like I said, I've used him ever since. Brokers MAY be less expensive, and sometimes they work out - but many, MANY have been burned by brokers. I look at it this way - why would I pay someone without a truck a finder's fee to find me a truck driver when I could contact a driver directly? My 2 cents, Bill D has won my business for life. |

Re: transporters?
I used uship.com people have reviews and they bid for your shipment...saved a lot of money that way had one hauled from Magnolia, Arkansas to Asheville, NC for 700 and the guys that did it were great

Re: transporters?
I used http://www.carshipperusa.com/ship-my-car/ to move a 72 K20 from Vegas to northeast Iowa. I was very satisfied with the service provided !!
Glen Holsman is the man to talk to. My father in law used these guys as well,,had a car shipped from Dallas to waterloo,, $550 door to door insured. They will also ship a non-running vehicle for just $100 more than a runner. Something to keep in mind if you find a truck that doesn't move under it's own power. |

Re: transporters?
If you don't mind a standard transporter (those big ones that fit like 8 vehicles) I can recommend AAAll-states transport. I had one carried from Alabama to Massachusetts for $500. Seemed like a great rate. And I asked to have the truck put on the top above the cab so to avoid the road debris, and the driver was happy to do it.

Re: transporters?
thanks for all of the great replies. im just scared like a school girl to let someone else haul it. i can do it myself but the thought of getting stuck in a snow storm hauling it back on my trailer is just as bad. ill keep everyone informed in what i decide and will post pics when it gets here.

Re: transporters?
I am in the same boat as you. This is my first time using a transporter. I have always done it myself. I have made a couple of long road trips one 22hr one way non stop. On long trips I have always caught some sort of bad weather in one state and have had bad luck with axle bearing burning up and even with police I guess a bright orange dually is just to easy not to stop for something.
Good luck.
