New 71 "4x4?" project
So I picked up a new project today and am pretty excited. It is a 71 4x4 1/2 ton in appearance but the VIN starts with CE241Z... What is your opinions about that? From what I can find this VIN belongs to a 2 wheel drive 3/4 ton....
Anyway, I want to convert front axle to disc, put a new windshield in and get a new seat with some cushion and then drive it till I decide the rest I will post a photo in a moment... Posted via Mobile Device

It's a 4x4 now, and it looks like you've got use for it. Have fun!

Re: New 71 "4x4?" project
The truck looks clean. I spy a tow hook. Was that the VIN on the door pillar? I'd be curious what the VIN is that's stamped on the frame. If the front axle doesn't have disks it's not likely to be 71-72. Maybe a 71 2wd cab on an earlier K10 frame?

I agree^, check vin# on the frame. Someone probly took two trucks and made one out of them. Looks like a nice solid old truck to me. Joseph

Re: New 71 "4x4?" project
So I checked the door jam and found the correct VIN number matching the title. I also found a assigned identification tag installed from the State of Idaho saying Frame 1968 CHEV and a VIN starting KE148J. So it looks like it is a 68 4x4 frame that someone licensed correctly. Thanks for reminding me where to investigate, been awhile since I had an old Chevy in the driveway... Too long!

Re: New 71 "4x4?" project
That would explain the drum brakes up front too. Have fun with the build!
