Theme trucks and props

Thought I would show my theme truck pics and vent my opinion. Got a couple of comments this last summer about having props on my Texaco theme truck. And my reply to them was "Sorry you don't like them...It is my truck and thats they way I did it". Texaco can in bed, push board and jumper cables on front bumper, Texaco flashlight, flares and emergency service manual in cab. Had an original Texaco service station hat hanging from mirror but someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse for it.
If you don't like these props then you will not like my vintage camper displays...look like walking thru a door to 1957!

I think it's pretty cool what you've done and am in the process of doing the same with my '57 chev in tribute to my granddad's Illinois Marathon station and bulk plant. Fond memories. -Doug

I love it. I'm thinking that I will do the same with my 57 truck. I worked at Clanton's Pure Oil service in Savannah, Ga when TF's were new and I'm planning on putting the name and Pure logo on my doors. We had a 52 Ford service truck at the time.

Beats the hell out of having it be a blasted rat rod truck or putting cry baby dolls in front of it. What you have isn't my thing but if it spins your wheels all is good in the world.
The truck looks good and looks like one that could have belonged a gas station owner since the day it was new. The one here in town that actually was a gas station truck when I was in high school in the 60's had near perfect paint to go with the signs on the side and the jack and lug wrench in the back and was always waxed to the max as the station owner believed that his customers expected him to show up with classy looking service rig rather than a tired worn out looking one.
Jack Passenger one of the local independent garage owners had a slick little blue AD truck that he drove all the time that could have been stuck in an indoor show with nothing more than a wash job and sweeping the floor mats. He got a lot of customers because the truck looked so sharp. That is what guys don't get now, stations and shops usually had damned shiny and sharp looking trucks for service trucks if they were going to hang a sign on them to advertise their business back in the day.

Second, What the hell gives with people thinking THEIR OPINION is so much better than another person's? If you don't like something, you should shut your pie hole and move on. Besides, didn't your mothers teach you, "If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all"?

Last, I love that different people do their vehicles different ways. I liked restored-perfect trucks, I like patina'd trucks, I like billet show trucks, I like low rider trucks, rats, etc. If they're well thought out and well executed then hats off as far as I'm concerned.

IndyBowtie, I love seeing someone's vision of an earlier time. For me its a happy reminder of days gone by with my long departed Dad.

Dan, I think It is the "ME" generation. I will stay away from the soap box on that one.
Indy, exactly. if they don't like it don't don't look at it!
I see lots of things I don't like but you have to look past those things and you will see a lot more you do like.

I like to see all these thing. Like you said like opening a door to the past. I like to take black and white photos of this kind of setting. Keep up the good work!

Very nice truck.
We build our cars/trucks/whatever, to please ourselves, NOT please others by doing what you think they'd like. If they want something different, they can build their own.

x2. My wife is asking for a vintage airstream so that we can go camping (...sorry guys, she's already spoken for!).

And - nice truck. I didn't understand the original post because I couldn't believe people would be stupid enough to (a) not appreciate your truck and (b) comprehend that it's your display and you can do what you want. I guess I continue to underestimate those type of people.

First of all very nice truck. It is a heck of a cool looking truck.

Second, I have experienced the people with the big mouths thing but I don't let it go.lol I work to hard to be criticized for what I like by a know it all. In my experience I found that the people with the biggest mouths are the ones that don't do their own work or do crappy work in my opinion. So I think a lot of it has to do with jealousy. I have a saying "I don't have to like it its not mine". But I do like all styles of builds and your truck is really nice and I agree with Dan in Pasadena people need to shut up if they don't have anything nice to say.

Remember if no one is hating on you, you may be doing something wrong because people only hate on people that deep down they admire.lol So take it as a compliment that's what I do.lol

Indybowtie, i love Texaco garb. Theres a guy here in kennewick that has a shop and an AD truck and two burbs done in TEXACO. I really dont get the critics either, i see a lot stuff at car shows i wouldnt buy or build, but id rather see them on the road than rotting in the weeds, regardless of the style. Nice truck and x2 on the trailer pics.

Definately nice truck,
I like just about any truck/ car... theme, stock, modified, custom, resto, ect doesn't matter to me. Even if it's done in some style I would never want for myself I keep my opinions to myself and look for things on it I do like, there is always something I find where I say "cool". No matter whats been done I can appreciate the time, money, planning and effort, it takes to get it done.

Like Kabwe eluded to, most of the opinionated big mouths are the ones who write checks not spin wrenches.

It's sad that some people can't keep their suck closed. I've been in fights over past builds and other guy's builds. Seems like every event that I go to has the same type of guy, that can't just nod at the vehicle and walk away. Unfortunately some times the only way to get your point across & make them shut up, is to just bust them in the mouth.
