 Jk. We actually own a '69 Ranger. We inherited it though (granddad bought it new), so don't rib me too hard. Nice article though! I may do this with the original grill and headlight bezels on my '66 and have them reanodized.

Drano can be used on anodized aluminum as well, aka...sodium hydroxide

It removes the anodizing. Oven cleaner works also. Eastwood sells a kit to remove anodizing too.

Well my BFF (ya... I said it!!) is a Diehard Ford Guy... but he builds Chevy engines for ECR!!! SOOOOO I always win that argument!
Astronaut.. thats EXACTLY what I want to do to the Cup. But need to figure out a good wash tub to do it in. Ive got a couple extra headlight bezels to try it on so I dont ruin the nice grill I have.

"Grease and Hair" removal will remove the clear as well.
VERY potent! Comes in a bag avail at you local Home Depot. Think it runs about $9 Nice article.

So ya mix up this big kiddie pool vat of heavily caustic anodizing remover, clean your parts up, then what....? Dump it down the toilet? Pour it in the gutter so the neighborhood cats and dogs can drink it? Or use the toxic waste deposit in the corner of your yard? Can this stuff be made harmless? Just curious.

The grease and hair remover sounds like it's made to be poured down the drain, so that may be the best way to go? Good point, this stuff needs to be disposed of properly.
