Replacing 6 cyl with 8 cyl.
I had a 69 with a 350. and 400 trans. Sold the engine and trans, and drive shaft. The person who bought them, put them in a 68. The 68 had a 6 cyl. The drive shaft is too short. Does a 6 cyl sit back further then an 8 cyl.?

My dads 68 6cyl did sit back further. so with the v8 in it now the distributor is close to the firewall.

Did they use the 6 banger motor stands or switch to the V8 stands. Also, did they move the mount locations. These trucks have two sets of holes in the frame for the stands.

so, are the front mounts for the 8cyl then? I bought my truck with a 350 already in it, and the distributer is right up against the firewall.

I found that using the stock 250 6 cyl. mounts in the stock location on the frame with a 350 v/8 will put the dist right next to the fire wall.

That's why GM put a bump in the firewall...to make room for big blocks!
