Bumper bracket issue
Guys I am taking off my LARGE step bumper and adding a sport bumper to my stepside. Pulled the old bumper off and went to add the new(er) brackets. I can't get the inside bracket mounted due to the bed mount stud. The mount stud definitely doesn't look right, the stack of washer clued me in!
With the washers off I still can't sneak the mount by: So my question is, Should I just cut that top horizontal part off of the bracket so that I can squeeze it past the bolt? Also, what is this bracket on the driver's side? THANKS GUYS |

Re: Bumper bracket issue
the bolt for the bed is to long change the bolt that keeps the bed on.Its a no brainier there. If you have to use more then one washer to tighten a bolt down go to the hardware store and buy a smaller bolt

Quote:
the bracket in the last pic is for a license plate and light when the truck has no rear bumper. remember rear bumpers were optional

Re: Bumper bracket issue
That is a no brainer but to change that wouldn't I need to remove the wood floor from my bed?

Re: Bumper bracket issue
To change to bolt wouldn't I need to pull the wood planks to get to it?

Re: Bumper bracket issue
The bolt should go thru the bed wood.

Re: Bumper bracket issue
How many layers of wood are in your bed?
now that you have the washers and nuts off the under side the bolt should be pushed up and out

Re: Bumper bracket issue
Looks to be one layer of wood, this truck was not done correctly in many aspects by the PO.
Here is a pic of inside the bed: So...there should be another bolt through the bed? |

Re: Bumper bracket issue
The factory used a carrage head bolt with a large offset washer, if you cannot push the bolt upward at this point and you do not see the carriage head and washer from the wood panel then it is possible the PO used a kit that has hidden mounting bolts. board vendor MarK offers this when doing replacment of the wood floor
