Howdy from south texas
Hello,
My names is Jason Saldana. I'm from a south texas boder town, McAllen, TX. I'm 24 and I own a 69 C10. At this time it is painfully stock ha. Its a stepside 3 speed I6 2wd with coil springs all the way around. Truck has been in the family since the mid 70s. This is my dads truck that he grew up driving. We are getting ready to get it daily driver ready for my dad who will be retiring in the coming years. I want the truck to be comfortable to drive 5-6 hrs for hunting or crusing. Here's the plan: Grab a running and driving 73-87 4wd/350/4 speed truck. Shorten the frame and build new body mounts for the 69 body. I like the idea of using the newer body since I want the PS/ AC/ and disk brakes. Also the fuel tank will already be under the truck. I will be putting bucket seats from a 99+ silverado once the gas tanks not in the cab. This will be a slow moving process since I have to find a 73+ that has everything I want in my pice range. Re: Howdy from south texas
Welcome and nice planning, however, your 69 wont look right on that frame, may I suggest to just put a disk brake set up from a 2wd, you can get that and PS from a donor truck 73-87. David Boyd is on the forum and he makes/sells fuel tanks that go behind the axle, group buys in springtime so keep your eye open for that, the seat will look cool and be more comfy than the stock one. put a sway bar on the front keep the 6 and change the trans to a 5speed, that will get you the economy and the drive-ability you are looking for. hope this all works out for you, good luck!

The biggest issue I will have is. I'm still 2wd. I would like to use the truck on hunting trips, so I will have to get a 4wd frame. Either 67-72 or newer.

IMO, a two wheel with a body lift and posi is all you need, skinny tires with a bit of bite on them helps a bunch too. Ive never had a 4x4 but have been in some pickles, my old 2wd 71 GMC 3/4 ton with aforementioned additions, never let me down.
A 67-72 4x4 chassis will be hard to find I think, but I will keep my eyes open for you.
