Engine score! finally in the right place at the right time....
Was at one of my accounts yesterday morning bs-ing with a couple of the guys there about our trucks when I mentioned I was looking to put a big-block in my 68 project. One of the guys pops up that his buddy has an engine "out of a Chevelle" for sale. A call is made, and 20 minutes later I'm looking/listening to a 454 running in this guy's Nova project.
454 4-bolt, just rebuilt, 30-over, flat tops, pocket-ported big oval port 781 heads with all new valvetrain, crane "RV" cam, crappy stock cast iron intake and quadrajet, new waterpump, alternator, powersteering pump, all brackets and pulleys - and it sounded great! Told me the motor came out of a '73 Chevelle he had wrecked years ago, and it had been sitting in his garage until about 6 months ago when he had it rebuilt for the Nova. Anyways, he needed money and said he'd let it go for $700 and I could pick it up that night. I said deal, gave him $100 deposit, picked it up last night, and now it sits in the garage waiting for the rest of the truck to get done. Now to put in a little hotter cam, a good intake/carb and HEI. Finally, I was in the right place at the right time

Hey superchevy
You know what they say..."Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while." Glad to see you score. That's what makes this sport a lot like fishing. Every once in a while we get a hit. |
