Question Engine/Trans Swap Questions..

I have a 68 c10.with original 6 292 and 4 speed (low 1st granny ) trans..
while it runs quite good..its not quite my style..i really want a 350..with automatic (th350)...
Never done the swap...was wondering if you guys could give me info on best and most economic way for me to go about it...Should I find a donor truck with 350 and pull it to be rebuilt...buy turnkey etc.?
have no clue what brackets, pulleys etc are suppose to be on 350 for my truck.....
I have no p/s or p/b at this time and plan to add later on..but priority for now is to get a nice 350/350 in it....
If anyones interested in my stock (excellent running 292 and 4spd..let me know....
thx for any and all suggestions as i've never done this swap b4..and cant find alot of info as i search the posts...

Re: Engine/Trans Swap Questions..

I went from a 250 inline six w/ 3spd manual to a 350/700R combo. There are a lot of little things you'll need. A donor truck that has a 350/350 would be a great thing to find. The brackets/pulleys, etc add up faster than you would believe. The metal stands (engine mount) that bolt to the frame are different for the straight 6 and V8 trucks, so you'll need those, and the automatics have a rear mount cross member, the manual trucks have a front mount and it's a pain to get out because it's riveted in. Automatic radiator and probably a bunch of other crap I've forgotten about...

Looking back, I had a GREAT running 250 as well... I wish I would have known the camaro/s10 5spds are almost a bolt in job... I would have left my 250 and put a 5 speed behind it. Just tossing that out there.
