Truck won't start for second time this week.

Sucks that this has to be my first post, but I'm baffled.

84 K-20
I drive over to a buddies house to carpool to work and he has a driveway that I park on going uphill. Last week I jump in and start it up to go home, back out of the driveway onto the road and as soon as i hit the gas she dies. Cranks but doesn't start. Leave it there for a day and still no start. Get her towed home and leave it for another day before I spray some starting fluid in the carb and she fired right up. Drove it all around till today when i get in it at the same spot.

Same deal, starts fine but as soon as i gave it some gas, dead. Tried starting fluid again and it will run on that but then just die. Another coincidence is it was raining both days. But if it starts on ether, I don't think it's a spark problem.

I appreciate any suggestions on what you guys might think it is. Raining now turning over to 2-4 inches of snow, so no troubleshooting tonight.

first thing id do is make sure your fuel filter isnt dirty or there is no small leak in it which wont let the carb suck fuel while its on a hill

raining both days leads me to suspect the dist cap. I know that should rule out the starting fluid thing but I would check it anyways

Re: Truck won't start for second time this week.

Thanks for the advice guys. It was driving me crazy just sitting here so I decided to go play with it. Smacked the carb with a plastic handle screwdriver and then stuck a little one down into the carb to see if it was the float sticking. Turns out that was the problem. Got her home now. So until my wallet recoups from Christmas, I have to carry an assortment of screwdrivers and avoid his driveway. Thanks again.
