Ole Blue's Makeover
Well the time is finally HERE!!!! YEEHAWWW!!!! I started the official rebuild of Ole Blue on 12/26/2011. Here he is when he found his new home .
The first thing on the agenda was the heart. Gotta have the fluid pumpin at all times & in good shape. Don't want any heart attacks, strokes etc.... .

Re: Ole Blue's Makeover
After gettin everything cleaned up, new cam, gears, pump etc... in I think his old heart was good as new
. Next was safety, lol. Gotta be able to move safely with the new heart, fast beatin heart. I just bandaged up the real bad scrapes to get him by till the major surgery .

Re: Ole Blue's Makeover
Got a little more done over the holidays ( I hope everybody had a Wonderful Christmas & New Year ). The front end is now completely rebuilt, new upper & lower control arms, ball joints etc... etc... My batteries went dead in my camera before I could get pictures of the finished front end but here are a few before it went dead. I am now running 3" drop springs & drop shocks

Re: Ole Blue's Makeover
Also got the rear finished up. Put new axles, bearings & races, all seals, Detroit Posi with Richmond 3.73 ring & pinion & 5" drop springs & drop shocks. We didn't have to move the shock brackets & like I said, my batteries went dead before I could get all the pictures I wanted to take.

Whats up with the rear wheels, they look nice. What size is that on wheel and tire? I need to upgrade mine with tubs.

Re: Ole Blue's Makeover
They are 15X12 with 7.5 backspacing, 5X5 lug pattern. The tires are Hoosier 31/16.5/15. All I had to do is cut one rib out of my bed & get two more wheel tubs to widen my two. Thank you for the compliment. I hope to have more pictures tomorrow.

Re: Ole Blue's Makeover
I went up to my buddy's that's doin Ole Blue & took a few pictures. He is movin right along. While I was there I had to get some " Hands On " time so I ran the wiring for the fuel pump, gauge & ran the 1/2" aluminum line. I also got the fuel filter mounted where the heater box used to be. My buddy didn't weld the holes up in case I ever wanted to put the heater assembly back on. He cut some polished aluminum & put over the holes so I could mount my filter & regulator. He also got my shifter console mocked up & I think it looks great!! He's gonna fiberglass over the wood, filler & gel coat smooth & paint it to match my interior color. Here is where we're at now.
Got the new bushings in & por15 painted on the frame under the cab & got the cab back on He got the rocker panel moved down where it's suppose to be & just tacked in Console mocked up Fuel line & wiring ran

Re: Ole Blue's Makeover
Got the cab floor coated with Por15
Started sandin on the cab Wiring ran for my fuel gauge & pump. I'm runnin my fuel pump off a toggle switch mounted next to my electric fan switch Fuel filter mounted on the firewall. I think when I get my regulator, return line etc... ran it'll look alot better. I'm goin with the 1/2" braided stainless line

Re: Ole Blue's Makeover
I don't know about it being alot of work but it sure is alot of fun, lol. This is all i've ever really enjoyed in my whole life as far as a hobby goes. I really liked the colors when I picked them out of the paint book but when I got to actually stir the paint up & look at it under a light I was amazed!! I hope it turns out as good as what i've got pictured in my head & we're givin it our best shot. All I know is, I will have this memory, or pictures of it anyway, lol, for the rest of my life. I have always wanted to build my own truck with my own hands for as long as I can remember & at 43yrs. old I'm doin it and doin the paint & body with my best friend. Without him I couldn't do it, I just don't have the knowledge when it comes to body work...but...I'm learnin & lovin every second of it! Thank you for your interest.

Re: Ole Blue's Makeover
My buddy put the first coat of base on the door jambs & made the line where the two colors split yesterday. He's gonna put 4 coats of base & 5 coats of clear. You can't see the pearl in the base in the pictures but in person you sure can. I also got my new emblem for the hood & it looks very nice. So far I am very happy with Top Banana. Not only have they sold me top quality parts but have excellent customer service. They have emailed me tracking numbers, checked to make sure I had recieved the parts & that I was happy with them. Anyway, here's where we're at now & I think we're gonna hang the doors today if he got all the jammin done last night
