Instrument Lights Not Working
Hi all, I was wondering what would be some possible causes for my gauge lights not coming on when I turn my headlights on?

before spending alot of time, check the ground wire (has a clip on end) to be sure it is cliped to the dash sheet metal edge. should be just to the right side of steering (underdash)

Did they quit all at once, or have you noticed them getting dimmer? Could be bulbs, especially if other light likew the heater control are working. Also check fuses. I know both of these seem simple, but sometimes it seems like the simple stuff is what eludes me.

My lights didn't work when I got my 69. I took the instrument panel off, unhooked the harness, swapped any lights that were visibly burnt, plugged it back in and all worked well. Where exactly the problem was, I don't know......I was just happy that it worked, easiest fix I've ever had.

You tried wiggling the head light switch rod? How about twisting it?
I know I gotta screw with mine to get them to work sometimes. |
