72 won't start

I recently bought a nice 72 with 350, automatic, points, and quadrajet. I brought it home and drove it around town for about 60 miles. I went out to start it and it wouldn't hit. It would crank as normal so no big deal. I looked at the junkyard HEI I had sitting in the garage, so I figured I would put it in. It still will not hit. Since then this is what I have done:

Cofirmed TDC with a piston stop, the rotor was pointing at #1.
Drained the full tank of fuel and lines, put in fresh 92 octane
Pulled the plugs, and grounded them (with the wires connected) to the frame while cranking to confirm a good blue spark on all plugs
Checked timing while cranking at 10 degrees BTDC with timing light
The 12 volt source runs directly to a keyed source under the dash and gets the full 12 volts all the time

I am truly stumped on this.

Well did you check if it's getting fuel? I would drizzle some gas down the carb and crank it over. If it does fire even for a second you have a fuel pump problem. Although you might have already done this. Is this engine in good condition?

I would second looking at the fuel pump..
I recently had a situation where the fuel pump in my Barracuda would work, start the car and keep it running,
but if I stopped for any amount of time the gas would run back to the tank and the fuel pump would be empty. If the car was tilted slightly uphill, the pump wouldn't catch. even if I primed it.
Tilting the car nose down would ensure it ran.. for a few days I was really stumped, as the pump did work.. but swapping in a new one completely cured the starting problem.

The pump is working well. I disconnected the line from the carb and cranked it to empty the lines. Fuel will shoot out about a foot with each shot. I have poured some gas in the carb to try to prime it, but the carb is squirting gas when I depress the accelerator. I agree it is a fuel or spark problem. I will let it set for a couple of days to let it air out.

If you installed the distributor and pointed the rotor at no. 1 did you first confirm that no.1 was at top dead center on the compression stroke? Try rolling the engine over with the no.1 plug out with your thumb in the spark plug hole until the compression blows out your thumb. Then look to see if the rotor is pointing at no.1. If it's pointed at no.6 then you're 180 degrees out and need to readjust the distributor.
