how to remove wiper arms

This is a silly question but how do you remove the windshield wiper arms on a 65 truck

It took me a minute to figure mine out too. I kept looking for a screw or clip or something. I eventually used a large flat head screw driver to pry them off. They popped right off, no problem. I don't know if this is the kosher way to do it, but it works.

I think there's a tiny spring loaded clamp that keeps the arm tight on the splines. If you're not worried about the paint, then just pry it off, otherwise you gotta take the pressure off the clamp with a small screwdriver.

There's a tool for that but I just use a pair of channel lock pliers to lift the hub opposite of the arm.

I generally use a brake spoon levered against a folded rag to prevent scratching. Lift up on the outboard end of the arm where it attaches to the spindle. This will free the spring clip and the arm will pop up. If you paint is good it doesn't hurt to lay a towel on the hood as well so the arm doesn't fly up and chip/scratch the paint.

I bought a special squeeze tool designed to lift the arms off, but it doesn't fit between the wiper arm and the sheetmetal vent panel.
