Engine Mount Confusion
I'm doing a valve job on my '70 350 stepper. Thought I'd R & R the front mounts while I'm in there. FYI - I didn't put this thing together, bought it this way. SPID says factory 350 so I'm think factory mounts.(ANCHOR # 2282) Nope, don't begin to fit. see pic. After some digging, found that the mounts for late '80's/early '90's GM are what I needed. (ANCHOR # 2637). What's going on here? Is this a doable setup for my '70, or has some "swapping" been done? As I look, it appears the crossmember is welded in ???? Keep in mind, the tierods and ball joints are still '70 stuff. I added dropped disk spindles a year ago and everything went together. Any thoughts?

Re: Engine Mount Confusion
Those look like 73 and newer V8 stands and mounts. As long as they are in the correct location they will work fine. Looks like they are welded on. I would drill some holes and add some bolts for extra strength and maybe get some new mounts.

Re: Engine Mount Confusion
O.K., could be. Actually, they're not welded to the crossmember, that's crud. You can see the bolts in the picture. The mounts are listed for a bunch of late '80"s and early 90's GMC and Chevy, mostly trucks, Suburbans, etc. The clamshells are bolted solidly to the block. Don't know what they are from. Guessing some of the same ones listed for the mount. And they were way more expensive.

Re: Engine Mount Confusion
I guess I am confused on what your question is. But I know this for sure, your entire set up (stands, mounts clamshels) are incorrect for a 1970 small block. It looks like you have the 1973/up setup (red arrow) and the original set up for a 1970 small block is the blue arrow (mounts are not in pic)
I is difficult to tell from your pic, but you could have the 1972 only(yellow arrow) bigblock stands and mounts. They are very close to looks and function of the 1973/up V8 stanhs. What exactly is your question????
