Re: 292

Yes, the manifold will fit and work, but the exhaust size is smaller on the 230/250 manifold than it is on the 292 manifold.

Re: 292

Thanks for the response. Will that be an issue in the future or is the openings just slightly smaller?

Re: 292

I always thought they had the same part number?

When I change mine on my '64 292 with a brand new one from Chevrolet, the exhaust fit just fine.

Re: 292

the pickups use the same manifolds, only the dump trucks had the larger exhaust. I work in a salvage yard and have checked the interchange info.... I also just pulled the manifolds of a 64 1/2 ton 292 and put it on my 65 1/2 ton230.

Re: 292

The 292 is a 2 1/2" dump with 3 bolts whereas the 194/215/230/250 is I believe 2 or 2 1/4" with 2 bolts

Re: 292

The 1/2 to 1 tons had a 2 in outlet. The early ones had 2 bolts & the later (about 68) had 3 bolt flange. Either will work if you get the corresponding flange. The 1 1/2 & larger trucks used a 2 1/2 in. opening & points straight down. You will need somefabrication to use it.

Re: 292

And you have the option of hot rodding it with the Offy intake + Headers or Langdon Cast Iron headers like so many of us do. Some $$ but then you can run a modern 4bbl.

If you found a good 292, grab it. It's a good investment even if you don't use it. They are getting harder to find and are very popular still.
