69 C-10 Front side marker- Do they Flash?

I have a 69 C-10 and my question is- do the front marker lights in the fender flash when you put on the turn signal. I have one side flashes but the other does not. I changed the bulbs but no help. How do I fix this?

Re: 69 C-10 Front side marker- Do they Flash?

I thought in 69 they were just reflectors with no lights. And 70 up were park lights. But either way they don't flash.

I thought the same. My 69 has reflectors only.

Re: 69 C-10 Front side marker- Do they Flash?

It's probably a ground problem. I'd start by pulling the light and cleaning the ground or running another ground to see if that helps.

Start at the right front turn signal and see if it is wired to the side marker light. I bet it is.

Re: 69 C-10 Front side marker- Do they Flash?

I believe that in 69 they were reflectors( mine were)might have been optional for lighted side markers? When they went to lighted side markers the fronts flashed but the rears do not. With no headlights or park lights on the fronts flash at the same time. With the headlights on they alternate flash. The rears just light up with no changes. If you want the rears to flash its just a matter of where you ground it.

Re: 69 C-10 Front side marker- Do they Flash?

Has anyone checked the wiring schematic? I'm almost positive it shows lighted front side markers. My '69 C20 has lighted front and rear side markers. They do not flash with the turn signals.

Probably be better if they both flashed. More of a modern safety feature for lane changes.

Re: 69 C-10 Front side marker- Do they Flash?

The front side markers flash with the turn signals on my 72, but the rears don't. 69 must be different though. It kind of bugs me that the rears don't flash, doesn't look right to me! I'm thinking about trying to re-wire them so they do. Joseph

If you wire the rears to flash, be ready for the lights to come on when you step on the brakes also

Never thought that far ahead - good point! Maybe I will just wire the front fender locations for flash capability.

Its more wire, but if you wire the rear side markers up to the front side markers, then there would be no brake interaction.

Re: 69 C-10 Front side marker- Do they Flash?

My '69 Chevy has just reflectors installed front and rear. Before I install my new engine next month I am going to add the wiring needed to install lights at all 4 locations and have them flash as well. The huge amounts of conjested traffic in my area almost requires it for safety reasons.

here is the wiring diagram. They should light, but not blink.

Exactly how the ones on the truck in my signature work. Light up when you turn on the lights but not flash.

I agree with you. I have looked into the wiring diagram and according to that they light up but DO NOT blink. Not a bad idea, but I want to keep mine original.

Prior to 1970, side marker light were optional. After 70 they were all lighted. I do not remember if they were tied into the turn signals or not. I don't think they were that way until the square body years.

When I completed my 71 and started to shake down the electrical system I was surprised by front markers blinking. I thought I had a short! or miss wired them. but the harness was original as was the turn switch . stock GM, functioning per design! cheers, Pat
