gmc pauls doors - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I know this had been beat to death on this forum, but has any one used his 72 doors. Was thinking his or from classic muscle restoration parts, they claim there door is a gm certified restoration part. Any input would be great.

GM certified is just a sticker,paid for by the vendor.GM hasn't made anything for these trucks for years but has found that people will paythem $$$ so they can put a GM certified sticker on it.
That said, most repop parts are either as cheap as can be made or fit fair.There are a lot of variables.The trucks have sagged over the last 40 years.The door frame they are attached to usually has some bend or has been straightened.The general consensus on repop parts is mixed,even within a brand.I think this is due to the fact that some think it should just bolt on.They had to shim from the factory and to be honest the fit and finish wasn't real good then.A lot of people expect fit and gaps like new cars have.These things are acheiveable but require work.
I do know the door manufacturers have gotten tham better,but who knows how well it will fit your truck.

I have been under the impression that if one can buy a "good" used door then that is the best route to go. Good luck

Doors have a LOT of contours to them, making them difficult to reproduce, and therefore the most likely to have fitment problems. You are better off locating some clean originals for your project. My .02

There was a tread on here couple of weeks back about some new repop doors that fit better. I think they were made by Appex or something like that.

The doors Paul sells fit well much better than the old doors. I test fit them on my build and was impressed

The doors that were first offered were just plain made wrong. Nothing to do with bolt-on. Unless a cab had been in an accident or had severe rust issues,like rockers and most of the floor/cowl area rotted away,it will still have the dimensions it left the factory with. The biggest problem was the door frames where about 3/8" too tall,a real serious oversight that could be remedied with extra labor. Now there are doors offered that are better. I don't know which brand GMC Paul offers. You need to ask "any" vendor who's product they are selling,then do research on "that" particular part's quality to really know what you're getting into.

3/8" to tall is the issue i am dealing with the LMC door plus the contour at the cowl area,. Iam a couple weeks out for needing another door time for more research.
