Re: 88-98 tailgate Band on 67-72 ?
Honestly, I'm glad someone likes 'em. When I had my '96 Silverado, I was jealous of the '97-98's that did not have the band you asked about. So, I sold the truck. My '96 GMC doesn't have that wide band, and that's fine with me.
If you like the look, go for it.

Why would you sell the truck because of a stick on tailgate band? You should of just removed the band.
But I'm looking to see them on a 67-72 c10 Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: 88-98 tailgate Band on 67-72 ?
It's an old post and I had not noticed that someone had dinged me on my replay. But, just so nobody thinks I'm stupid....I traded off that Silverado, along with a CRV and got a Tundra....which became the trading material that got me my '96 GMC and some boot to play with, 5 years later. Hey, it's all good!

I'd have to agree that I like the original tailgate lettering too. But it's not bad with trim. Kind of cool I guess.

My initial impression is that I don't like it, but would have to see it in person to be sure. It just looks a little too big in proportion in that photo. My .02

They did have these on gmc's as well. I think it looks good just not as good as original. It really reminds me of a newer truck.

Re: 88-98 tailgate Band on 67-72 ?
I'd love to see some up close high resolution shots, but from this angle I think I really like it. Especially for a daily driver. The average person would think it was period correct.

Re: 88-98 tailgate Band on 67-72 ?
Thats cool. I am working on the opposite, putting the 67-72 CHEVROLET stamp section on my 93 tailgate (the orig 69 tailgate I have was rusting so... cut out the stamped letter section) .... Keep it old school!

Re: 88-98 tailgate Band on 67-72 ?
This was a truck I saw for sale years ago. Wish I had bought it, it was as nice in person as it is in pics. I think this was around 2006 and I thought the 6K they were asking was crazy for a longbed With a drop, correct rear bumper, and some cool wheels I would have had a bad azz truck.
I have no clue how it was attached... double sided tape?

Looks not too bad. I would need to see it up close to see how it sits on the tailgate. Interesting idea tho.

Re: 88-98 tailgate Band on 67-72 ?
I think it would depend on the color and chrome on the truck. Both look OK in the pictures though but I don't think the one Jesse posted would llook right on the one jondancer posted are the other way around.

Strange! I pulled one off a GMC tailgate, and couldn't figure out where it came from. Guess I know now!

Its ok, but I just think it looks too modern for a 67-72.

Well it gives the rear a different look. Subtle and unnoticeable to some but to others it's a nice change. Props to the one who first tried it.

But how much cheaper is that to buy then the trim piece that does go there? I think it looks nice but the factory strip looks much better.
