Crew cab interior question...

Why does it seem they all have white A/B/C pillar trim and headliners, regardless of interior color?

I thought it was pre-80 that had all white trim?

Re: Crew cab interior question...

My 1990 has white, with blue guts. Looked at a 1991 a while back, had white with everything else red.

Re: Crew cab interior question...

And my 1990 is a Silverado Bonus Cab. Air, cruise, tilt, power windows, power locks front carpet, front cloth bench, but a rubber rear floor mat on no rear seat or belts.

Re: Crew cab interior question...

I've wondered the same. My 88 had white headliner and pillar covers with blue everything else. I have seen alot of other crew cabs with white headliners. I thought maybe they were useing white headliners to help keep the interior temp down in hot weather.

Re: Crew cab interior question...

My '89 had the white liner and side plastic, too. I was going to give it an introduction to some dye. I am pretty sure Scoti has the same intentions.

Re: Crew cab interior question...

I bought an '84 CC car hauler last year. I still have only seen picture's of it but I thought the trim was cream color'd with blue headliner and seat's. I just look'd at the picture's again and sure enough, the trim is white.

My brother's 88 has white head liner, A/B/C pillar trim, red everything else. I always thought it was weird too. It's all going to be tan soon.

Re: Crew cab interior question...

my 88 crew also has the white trim and headliner ..blue everything else...the lighter color gives a more roomy feel in the cab...darker will seem more crunched...im not sure if i will restore the white though(its more of a light grey)...i kinda like the navy blue

Re: Crew cab interior question...

The 3rd gen dodges have done this too. It might make it feel more roomy, but it gets dirty too dang easily IMO.

Re: Crew cab interior question...

I won't put money on it, but if the headliner and trim aren't white/cream/off-white, it has been dyed at some point.

Someone has dyed the headliner and trim in my '79. Without taking it apart and really looking at things, you would never know it wasn't original.

That all depends on the quality of the prep work, the quality of the dye/paint, and a proper application. A good job will look stock and hold up well.

I changed my white to blue on my crew cab. I used sem dye on the plastic and didn't have any trouble.

Re: Crew cab interior question...

I am using SEM's Color Coat to change my Light Saddle/White interior to a different shade of tan right now. SEM seems to coat very well but you will need to make sure you use at least 2 coats and prep work is the key to good adhesion! It will even cost the metal trim well if you use a self etching primer first...

Deproliferation of color parts in the assembly plant.

Otherwise they have to stock 4 or 5 different color sets rather than one.

That would make sense if crews and suburbans all had white interior trim, but there seems to be no uniformity to what was color matched and what wasn't. Anybody have or have seen a burban with random white interior parts? And what interior color was the white part of? Did they ever offer a white interior?
